Pole attempts to take-off in BMW Sauber at Canadian GP
Someone with access to a much more powerful computer than the one I’m using has lovingly recreated Robert Kubica’s spectacular crash at last year’s Canadian Grand Prix in glorious 3D. The car’s data recorder revealed that during the crash, Kubica had been subjected to a maximum G-force of 75G. To put that in perspective, F1 drivers pull up to 6G when cornering. It’s a testament to the strength of modern F1 cars that the Pole only suffered concussion and a sprained ankle. Had this accident occurred in 1997, rather than 2007, the crash might have cost Kubica his life. Happily it didn’t, which means we can enjoy watching it again and again.
