Ferrari’s world champ sets pace in French test
Kimi Raikkonen was quickest on the second day of testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, France. The reigning world champion’s best lap - he completed 102 - was less than a tenth of a second faster than that of second-place man, Heikki Kovalainen. The BMW Sauber of Bobby Kubica was third-fastest. Full timesheet from the day coming up next…
1. Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) 1:05.381
2. Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren) 1:05.471
3. Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber) 1:05.906

4. David Coulthard (Red Bull) 1:06.001
5. Jenson Button (Honda) 1:06.091
6. Sebastien Bourdais (Toro Rosso) 1:06.125
7. Jarno Trulli (Toyota) 1:06.205
8. Nelson Piquet Jnr (Renault) 1:06.355
9. Kazuki Nakajima (Williams) 1:07.080
10. Adrian Sutil (Force India) 1:07.104
11. Giancarlo Fischella (Force India) 1:07.123
A surprisingly decent showing by David Coulthard - who does enjoy high-downforce tracks - and Sebastien Bourdais. Not such a good day for Williams - that’s a poor time from Nakajima - and Force India.
