Schumi - not as good on two wheels, apparently
Wee Bernie Ecclestone recently questioned why Michael Schumacher would even want to risk his life by messing around on motorbikes. It seems Bernie may have a point – Schumi crashed out on his “guest debut” in the German Superbike championships at Oschersleben (not a great weekend for ex-F1 champs then).
After finishing 28th of 39 riders in Sunday’s morning race, the German F1 legend was running 21st in the afternoon event when he skidded out (see photo, above). The crash wasn’t serious and Schumi seemed unconcerned when interviewed after the incident:
“What incredible fun! A race like that is lot better than a test, and it was great to prove myself out there,” Schumacher said - although his idea of incredible fun is a little different to our idea of incredible fun.
Schumi intended to race under a pseudonym - Marcel Niederhausen - but inevitably the press got wind of it, so he ended up racing under his real name.
If we track down video of the crash, we’ll add it to this post, so watch this space.
