Grid Crasher casts Ray Ban-covered eyes over Monaco

Five winners:

1. Lewis Hamilton Took full advantage of Ferrari’s flawed one-stop strategy. Yes, he made one major error but he got away with it - Lil’ Lewis deserved victory at a track he genuinely loves.

2. Adrian Sutil The driver of the day - he didn’t really put a foot wrong, unlike most of his peers. Could have nabbed a famous fourth place for Force India, but Kimi Raikkonen rear-ended him with just a few laps to go - despite that, he’s a winner to us. His refusal to blame Kimi after the race showed true class.

3. Robert Kubica Continues to impress everyone with his pace and consistency. Yet to win a race this season, but the Pole is not out of the title race yet.

4. Sebastian Vettel An excellent drive by the young German. A fifth-place finish from 19th on the grid is a fine achievement.

5. F1 fans Thanks in part to the unpredictable weather, we were treated to one of the most exciting grands prix in the last 10 years; Monaco is always better when it rains.

And five losers:

1. Kimi Raikkonen Not only did he finish outside of the points, but he ruined Adrian Sutil’s race (and ended up without a front wing, as the above pic shows), making him the undoubted villain of the weekend. Team-mate Felipe Massa has the momentum now, but will Ferrari continue to treat the inconsistent Finn as their No.1 driver? In truth, Raikkonen had his worst weekend in a long time, making several errors and looking anything but a world champ.

2. Nico Rosberg Qualified well at his “home” track, but had zero luck in the race, which ended for him when he wrote off his car at the Swimming Pool complex. Must try harder.

3. Nelson Piquet Jnr Still no points in the bag and needs to score at the next GP, in Montreal, or Renault will surely ditch him.

4. Heikki Kovalainen A software glitch effectively ruined his race, although he put in some storming laps to snatch a single point. When will his run of bad luck end? Or is he simply too nice a guy to succeed in F1?

5. Fernando Alonso Actually made more mistakes than his rookie team-mate (Piquet). Tried to outdrive his mediocre Renault, but didn’t quite manage it in difficult conditions.
