Why did Kimi flunk his Monaco exam so badly?

Well, here’s how it is: Raikkonen was distracted.

Yep, you heard us: distracted. Why? you ask, quite reasonably. We’ll leave the answer to Keke Rosberg, former F1 ace, dad of Nico, and now pundit for German telly. Keke believes the world champ was put off by too many journeys between his hotel and his luxury yacht.

“His [Kimi’s] eternal back-and-forth between the ship and the hotel room seemed not to be without consequence,” Rosberg told German magazine Sport Bild.

At Monaco last weekend, Raikkonen’s managers – David and Steve Robertson – offered customers a spot on their hired yacht, with the €5000 per-head fee guaranteeing several personal appearances by Kimi himself. But the Finn’s hotel for the weekend (he was staying at David Coulthard’s swanky Hotel Columbus) was located on the other side of town, meaning that poor Kimi was constantly buzzing between the boat and his hotel on a scooter.

Crap excuse, if we’re honest. Lapdancers in your hotel room, a cocaine deal gone wrong, finding out you have an incurable disease - those are good reasons to be distracted. A quick ride on a scooter - not a good reason.
