Hamilton won in Monaco with help from above
“Thanks God, you’re almost as awesome as me. See you in Montreal…”
Lewis Hamilton didn’t win the Monaco Grand Prix on his own. He was helped out by God (and of course the wonderful team of mechanics at Vodafone McLaren - mustn’t upset the sponsors). Speaking to the Mirror this week, Lil’ Lewis said:
“God was with me. I needed everyone’s support and I had that in the race.”
The usual mumbo jumbo uttered by God-fearing sports stars? Perhaps not. Speaking to the Spanish press at a motor show this week, Pedro de la Rosa (McLaren’s test driver) admitted that Hamilton suffered a slow puncture during the Monaco GP and so was lucky to finish at all. The damage was probaby sustained near the end of the race, when his McLaren ran over debris from Nico Rosberg’s Williams, which crashed heavily. Did divine intervention propel Hamilton to the chequered flag?
