The late, great Villeneuve won his first ever GP in his home race, in Canada in 1978 - it was the first time a Canadian driver had won a F1 grand prix, and he couldn’t have picked a better place to do it, in front of more than 100,000 fans.
Villeneuve only won five more grands prix in his short career; a horrific crash at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix cost him his life. But he’ll always be remembered as one of the fastest, and most fearless drivers ever to race in F1.
