…And he’s the luckiest F1 fan in the world
Meet Alvaro Adema, a 23-year-old journalism student from Spain. When he’s not smoking dope and sleeping studying, Adema spends his time being Fernando Alonso’s official fan. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.
Adema, a certified F1 nut, was chosen from more than 35,000 hopefuls to be Alonso’s official fan for the 2008 season. That means he gets to travel around the world for free, staying in top hotels and with €3,000 pocket money per month. And as Alonso’s personal cheerleader, he gets to watch every grand prix, also for free. Sometimes, Fernando drops him a text message, just to see what’s up. Yeah, whatever.
It sounds way too good to be true, but no, it is 100% legit, as Adema’s website proves. Shame Alonso is having such an average season, but we wouldn’t turn down the chance to follow Renault around the globe, not even if we had to wear an officially crap orange ING shirt.
Here’s Alvaro ranting in Spanish, probably about the scary Fernando shrine he’s building in his bedroom:
