Four riders injured in mother of all smashes at Jerez
This spectacular crash, which happened before a Spanish 125cc race at Jerez on Sunday, makes painful viewing. Spanish rider Axel Pons fell during a pre-race practice lap and was trying to move off the track when he was hit by other motorcycles. The Aprilia rider suffered a nasty double fracture of the tibia and fibula in his left leg and was taken to the Puerta del Mar hospital in Cadiz, where he remains.
Team Machado rider Carlos Ferrando, who crashed into Pons, broke the femur of his left leg and was taken to the SAS hospital in Jerez. Team KTM rider Edgar Garcia and Josep Rodriguez of TMR suffered shoulder injuries in the same incident but did not require hospital treatment. Grid Crasher hopes all parties get well soon.
