DC driving on borrowed time
German magazine Auto Motor und Sport claims that only “a miracle” will now prevent Red Bull from starting the 2009 season with its preferred lineup of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.
That leaves David Coulthard out in the cold, and looking very short on options if he wants to stay in F1 for another year. Asked about the mounting speculation, DC replied, mysteriously: “I have plans for the future.”
The Big Chin played down the possibility of crossing the pond to compete in NASCAR. “I doubt it would satisfy me,” Coulthard said. “After Formula 1, everything else is a step down.”
If he retires from driving, Coulthard could take on a management role at Red Bull, but we reckon it’s much more likely that he’ll end up as a pundit for the BBC, for its revamped F1 coverage in 2009 - he has the makings of a top-class pundit, especially as he’s not afraid to speak his mind, and has a very dry sense of humour. F1’s Alan Hansen, anyone?
