When J-P opens his mouth, bitterness spews out
J-P Montoya, currently competing in NASCAR, has slagged off F1 in an interview with The Times.
“Formula 1 drivers are convinced that they’re so much better than anyone else,” Montoya said. “When I was in F1, every week I was on the podium. It was cool, but is it satisfying? It wasn’t, because it was the most boring races.
“The guy who started in front of you would drive away from you, and the guy who was behind you would drop away from you, unless you [had] f***ed up in qualifying – and then you needed to have a different pit-stop strategy to beat them.”
Montoya continued:
“It’s boring. It’s a shame, because the technology these cars have and the amount of companies that are involved is unreal. I don’t know how big companies do it for such a long time without results.”
The Colombian then claimed that NASCAR was harder than F1: “When you run 15th, sometimes you think it sucks, but look at the big picture – 15th here is like sixth or seventh in F1, because there are twice as many cars.
“The incredible thing is here I run 15th or 20th on average, and there are four or five weeks in the year where I have a chance of winning. In F1 if you run sixth or seventh, you run sixth or seventh the whole year.”
So, J-P’s genius argument is: “I find it harder to win NASCAR races, therefore it’s more difficult to drive in NASCAR…”
If only it was that simple. We think Montoya would have found F1 a damn sight more difficult had he been stuck in a shit car, rather than a McLaren or Williams.
He also sneered at F1’s lack of popularity in the States: “Go ask anybody here who is Lewis Hamilton. Lewis who?”
Yeah, like anyone in Europe gives two poops about Kyle Busch.

i feel JPM’s cry are sour grapes, but i still rate him highly as a driver. Apart from some errant mistakes, he is a great fighter.
But when he says Nascar is harder, he needs to look back at his own statement he made sometimes back “I could move the whole bed with my head, but i couldn’t still drive them (f1 cars) from five laps”…

F1 is B-O-R-I-N-G. I don’t know how you Euro’s can defend a racing series that’s equivalent to watching paint dry on the wall.
All this money and technology invested in an open wheel car. But what is the end result? Little passing or excitement on the track.
With overpriced tickets, and demanding sanction fees from Bernie E, F1 has little value for the largest consumer market in the world (THE USA).
I’d rather watch excitement on the track than bear wittiness to a Euro-Trash racing league that claims to be the pinnacle of motor sport.
F1 is only good at one thing: Overspending at the highest level of racing arrogance.

f1 is a little bit boring this season, but come on….nascar and indy and shit…it’s poor man’s formula 1…or maybe i just think that because i’m european….either way, i couldnt possibly be less interested in what goes on in america.

F1 is exciting on all levels includingn the engineering. NASCAR spells BOORING and you fall asleep looking at cars going round and round and,roundrrr….

Stupid Americans think their sports are better than everybody elses.NASCAR better than F1? Give me a break. You lot only think Basketball, Nascar, Baseball, American football are the best sports in the world because those are the only ones you play and are actually good at. All others that you try, like actual sports such as rugby, real football (soccer for you guys) , you can’t cut it.

I agree with JJ World Champions in baseball , american football they are the only country in the competition what a joke and I don`t recall juan being on the podium every week he is just an overated indy car driver or chump car whatever they call that rubbish. I have watched a nascar race but I couldn`t tell what make of car any of them where, they all look the same. Maybe you are just to fat and slow juan.
