The future is close…
Madcap company Moller International - it’s a bit like Acme, but for real; Moller was also behind the SkyCar - has announced that it plans to start production of an initial run of 40 flying cars as early as next year. The first cars will be based on the M200G “ground effect” vehicle, designed to operate at just 10ft off the ground. The car is also capable of vertical take-offs and landings.
This is awesome news, squared. We all know that when an affordable flying car hits the market, that’s the day we can say: the future is here at last, it’s time to start having a whole lot of irresponsible fun at 10ft off the ground in a giant frisbee.
More details this way…
You won’t even need a pilot’s license as the vehicle is controlled by Moller’s fly-by-wire computer technology - so you only need to choose which direction to go in. The car can hold up to two adults and is powered by eight rotary engines. Its max speed is a zippy 100mph.
There is one problem we can see with such a vehicle. How can it be legislated for? Surely you won’t be allowed to hover 10ft above the M25, for example. So where will we be able to use it safely? If not on roads, where? In a big country like the States, it won’t be such a problem. But try using one to get to work in Britain.
