French team shocked by apparent suicide
We noticed that Fernando Alonso wasn’t wearing a black armband (see photo) in his pre-Hungarian GP press conference yesterday. We can only conclude that Renault don’t want to draw attention to the fact that one of their employees was found dead outside their English HQ on Thursday?
William Millar, a 53-year-old R&D engineer, reportedly shot himself in the head, on a bridleway next to Renault’s Enstone factory. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
Sad news for the team, although there is no mention of the incident on their website. The only official statement issued reads: “Everyone at the team is deeply shocked to lose such a valued member of staff who had been with the team for 27 years.”
Will Renault run with any black trim on Sunday, in trubute to one of their longest-serving employees. We’ll see…
