Alonso’s murky future clears…
Nando Alonso is set to sign a £7.6m deal which will see him drive for Honda in 2009 - but the Japanese manufacturer won’t be able to stop the Spaniard joining Ferrari in 2010 - that is a done deal.
Honda chief Ross Brawn has been after Alonso for several months and now it seems he will get his man, if only for a stop-gap season. Alonso is the best development driver on the grid, and Brawn hopes that in one year, Alonso can be instrumental in transforming cash-rich Honda into a podium team.
We didn’t think Brawn would accept Alonso for one season only, but it seems he has no choice. Alonso would replace Rubens Barrichello in the team, forming a driver partnership with Jenson Button.
Is this a good move for Alonso, especially as Renault seems to be getting its act together? Please leave us a comment with your thoughts…

didnt ross brawn say a few weeks back that it’s a done deal - they’re sticking with the two drivers they have for the next season too ???

My thoughts exactly!
Alonso would be a great asset for the Honda team but for 1 season only?? Personally I would never go for that even if I had the Gill Bates budget they have.
