Do you think Kimi will fourpeat in Belgium this Sunday?

Kimi Raikkonen owns Spa-Francorchamps. He has won the last three Belgian Grands Prix at the circuit: in 2004, 2005 (both with McLaren) and in 2007 (there was no event in 2006), his world championship-winning season with Ferrari. If he is to maintain any hope of catching Lewis Hamilton this season, you feel the Finn has to make it four in a row.

Although the Kimster is in a slump, without a win since April (Spanish GP), he has still managed to pick up solid points in most races. And bearing in mind how last season panned out, it’s obviously dumb to write off Kimi with six races still to go.

This is Kimi’s ideal chance to prove his critics wrong. Many observers think he has fallen out of love with the sport, and Bernie Ecclestone even accused him this week of never being in love with F1. It’s more complicated than that. Raikkonen loves racing F1 cars, clearly, but he has little time for corporate bullshit or the media spotlight.

Qualifying will be crucial. We fully expect Raikkonen to return to form and start from the front row of the grid - Spa’s long, flowing lap suits his driving style - but only if Ferrari can get the most out of Bridgestone’s tyre choices. The Italian team would like a softer option, but will have to make do with hard/medium compounds.

The weather will play a part too. As long as there is no rain, which would play into McLaren’s hands, we think Kimi has an excellent chance of making it four in a row. If he can do that, Lewis will begin to nervously look in his mirrors, just like in 2007.
