Briton fastest in the dark
The McLaren of Lewis Hamilton was fastest in Formula One’s first night-time practice session. The first session at the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix was a tight affair with Hamilton pipping title rival Felipe Massa to the fastest lap. Hamilton recorded a lap of 1m 45.518s, while Massa’s Ferrari was just 0.080s adrift on 1m 45.598s.
Massa’s team-mate Kimi Raikkonen was third quickest. He had been on course to set a fastest lap before an error on the last corner scuppered his chances. McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen was predictably fourth fastest. BMW-Sauber’s was the best of the rest as he took his car round in 1m 46.618s.
