Superb Spaniard takes victory in Singapore
After his unfortunate car trouble in qualifying, Fernando Alonso sounded about ready to throw the towel in. His Renault had been superquick all weekend, but a problem with the fuel feed meant he had to pull out of qualifying after Q2 and start from 15th on the grid.
As we reported on Saturday, the pessimistic Spaniard gave up hope of getting anything out of the race. “The race is lost. You can’t overtake here and I’m starting from 15th, so I will be going out just to lap the track, but it’s over already,” he moaned.
And lap the track he did - faster than anybody else. After picking up his first victory and podium of the season, Alonso must be considering losing more races before they have even started!

I think it’s good for him that he got a win for all his graft this season. I wonder if he’ll acknowledge the element of luck involved like he did when Piquet finished on the podium in Germany!
Also thought it was poignant that Hamilton gained six points over Massa when Massa deserved better today when it was a net six points that Hamilton gained from the stewards decision at Spa - it felt like the decision has now been evened out. It also means that if Massa winds up winning the title, there should be no qualms about him not deserving it.

really superb performance from Fernando the entire weekend, and luck fixed the problem on Q2 with the fuel pump. He deserves that win more than the rest for being driving a dog of car the entire season and don’t giving up til the end. In my opinion he’s the most complete driver on the grid and it’s a shame for the sport that he’s driving that crappy renault and not a front-grid-starting car. We, ferrari fans, need him desperatly at the scuderia as soon as possible!
Nice job Fernando!

Fernando, the lucky cheat. He lucked into that win, as well as cutting the chicane early on to overtake without giving the place back. Funny how he was crowing over Lewis’ penalty in Spa and then does exactly the same thing. He is a vile x 1,000,000.

Jeezus, get a grip you daft bint.
You would be blowing Lulu’s trumpet if he turned out to be the next moors murderer and slagging off Alonso if he gave all his money to charity.
Fernando Alonso: 2 X wdc, 20 times winner.
Spewis Ramilton: 0 x wdc, 8 times winner.

As a F1 novice I’d like to know who decides what penalty to give. Massa received a fine for leaving his pit stop into the path of another driver last time and yesterday received a drive through penalty. Had he have received a drive through penalty before surely that could have affected his final position in the race?
