… sadly he’s also crap
Ferrari fans might be getting increasingly infuriated by the curious performances of Kimi Raikkonen, but he announced himself as the fastest Formula One driver with yet another fastest lap at Singapore. The reigning world champion set the quickest lap for the tenth race of the fifteen that have taken place so far this season.
That equals the Finn’s own record from 2005 with McLaren and Michael Schumacher’s from the 2002 season. If he sets the fastest lap at any of the remaining grand prix this season he will hold the record by himself and wipe Schumi off at least one of F1’s records.
Other than Raikkonen, only Heikki Kovalainen (two), Nick Heidfeld (two) and Felipe Massa (one) have been able to record fastest laps this season. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old used his pace at Singapore to plant himself into the barriers as he approached the end of the race.

That’s the Raikkonen some people said Schumacher was afraid of? The “old” man would drive circles around the current competitors and be WDC already.

er……nooooooo!!! had Fernando gone to Ferrari in 2007 and not McMorons, he would be a 4!!!!!!!!!! time world champion by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he would have easily won in the 2007 Ferrari because Raikkonen still won with it after some pi55 poor driving last year!!! Fernando does not do pi55 poor driving!!! Alonso would have been champion last year by 30-40 points!!!!! And he would have done EXACTLY the same this year, and been 20 or 30 points clear by Monza!!!! Luca is fooling himself to keep Alonso and Ferrari seperate1!!!!

I agree, Fernando Alonso would also most certainly already have won this championship in the Ferrari (and probably in the McLaren as well, I might add).

Fastest laps in a race count for nothing unless you win! Perhaps somebody should point that out to Raikkonen. Unless the powers that be decide to award points for fastest laps.

Do you really think that Alonso or Schumacher would have walked away with this years WDC in Raikkonen’s Ferrari after two engine failures, a broken exhaust, and a car that has very poor grip in the wet?
Not to mention being crashed out of a race Kimi might have won while he was stopped for a red light in the pit lane, and in Singapore dropped to near the tail end of the race when a backmarker (Piquet) crashed and brought out the safety car while Kimi was hauling in Hamilton in second place at half a second a lap and closing on Massa at close to the same rate.
Spa showed what Raikkonen can do when he doesn’t have to deal with such a multitude of misfortunes. He blew by Massa, passed Hamilton who spun on the drying track, and dominated the race until the rain came with less two laps to go and his Ferrari lost most of it’s grip, as it regularly does in the wet.
Head to head in equal cars, Raikkonen would beat them all. That’s why he has fastest lap in 10 of 15 races. It’s interesting to note that Hamilton has none.
