Disgruntled Brits forsake their hero

hamilton.jpg

According to F1SA.com, a group of ex-Lewis Hamilton fans in the Midlands held a ritualistic barbecue to burn more than £600 worth of Lewis merchandise.

Lewis baseball caps, t-shirts and flags were just some of the items that went up in flames, as the group of (100%) British F1 fans turned their back on the driver they used to worship.

The reason for this change of heart? The fans don’t like him any more - simple as that. Words like “megalomaniac” and “ego” were reportedly overheard.

For now, we’ll take this story with a pinch of salt, as F1SA is the only source we have. But surely it’s too good not to be true?

I just love too see how jealous some people can be of someones success. Just because you can’t drive a F1 car does not mean you have to hate. As I’ve learned there will always be ignorant people like most of you folks. Thats why Micheal Schumacher was so great he used the negative energy that came from folks like you & turned it into multiple championships. I hope Lewis can do the same so I can laugh at haters like you.

Jealous? For crying out loud dude, the guy’s an egomaniac and an ass. Schumacher was great because he was talented & didn’t give a damn what people thought, not because he “used” people’s negative “energy”. What a lot of yuppy, hippy, new-age, bullshit.

This is all great - it harks back to the 80’s and early 90’s - arrogant, egotistical drivers who drive with balls. make the most of it, it’s not very often that we get a driver with a bit of character!!!!

  • 8 sambo // Oct 15, 2008 at 7:41 am

Exactly, Ashers… the same twats that are ‘hating’ Hamilton probably worshipped at Mansell’s alter… rose-tinted specs time, I say.

At least Hamilton’s a racer… and as for Schumacher, christ… he was WORSE. By FAR! Idiots.

You don’t have to like the guy personally, but you still have to respect the guy’s quality. The only problem is he is still an F1 amateur, but people seem to forget that.

I hope he goes on to pick up the title this year after all the bullsh1t the FIA have gotten up to with penalties and nonsense.

Does anyone remember Schumacher telling Damon Hill to stop talking to the driver next to him in a press conference?

‘Shut up, you may learn something’

I think that was quite arrogant. Still, Schumacher was one of the best drivers ever. Arrogance is needed to become the best in the sport. If the amount of arrogance is anything to go by, Hamilton will be a multi champion, just like Alonso.

Schumi knew that the only way to get a non Germans to like him was to join Ferrari. Hammy hasn’t figured that out yet and still suffers under the extraordinary delusion that he is a ‘cool’ guy.

  • 11 Ashers // Oct 15, 2008 at 9:25 am

Hamilton isn’t out to get people to like him - he’s out to win races and world championships - that is what his life has been focused on for the last 18 years!
I hated Schumi as a driver, but I take my hat off to him for everything he achieved - even if on the way to some of these triumphs he had some dubious tactics.
For those of you who think Hamilton is arrogant - dig out the post race interviews and conferences with the likes of Senna, Prost, Villeneuve (Gilles), Rosberg etc - they make Hamilton look like a puppy dog!

  • 12 Ashers // Oct 15, 2008 at 9:30 am

…and Hamiltons driving is so much better now than when he was in GP2, but everyone said he was a genius driver then - because he took risks, and still does - you have to - every sport has an element of risk taking if you are to become supreme at it. Schumacher acheived so much because there was no one else willing to take the same risks as he did! Rant over.

Dude, you totally spelt bizarre wrong.

  • 16 Kimi // Oct 15, 2008 at 1:14 pm

Ashers….. couldn’t agree more. I think some of the others commenting on this site are too young to know what they’re talking about, so many contradicting arguments.
I wonder if we’ll be hearing as much from tEQUILLA sLAMMER when half term kicks in?

  • 17 Me // Oct 15, 2008 at 1:28 pm

I don’t think Lewis is arrogant - but it’s painfully obvious that he is desperate to be loved. Pity for him that you can buy everything except charisma.

  • 18 shostak // Oct 15, 2008 at 1:47 pm

Please, dont compare Hamilton with Schumy. Schumy is a 7 WDC and Hamilton has nothing. :P

  • 19 BMWF1 // Oct 15, 2008 at 2:27 pm

Well, I’ve been watching F1 all my life. Schuey became VERY arrogant, after he won his 3rd world title. Alonso became an ass after title #one. I remember Mansell, he was a douche in superior equipment. JV also a douche in the best car. Senna and Prost were allowed to be arrogant, as they were for all intents and purposes, gods. The difference between all of the above referenced drivers and LH? They all paid their dues, and they also won championships. So far Hami’s done none of that. He’s a spoiled brat who spouts off at the mouth, and lately hasn’t produced anything to back up his banter.

    How far can jealousy go????
