Ayrton’s nephew one step closer to F1
Bruno Senna, 24-year-old nephew of the great Ayrton, is set to test for Honda’s F1 team next month. “I see myself in Formula One soon, or at least I hope so,” Bruno told Spain’s Diario Sport newspaper. Hint, hint.
Senna will attend the season-closing Brazilian Grand Prix next month, and the test is expected to take place soon after that, although the venue is not yet known. Silverstone or Jerez maybe?
There is still a small chance that Senna could actually be more than a test driver in 2009 - Honda has not yet confirmed either of its current drivers, Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, for next season. Barrichello seems more vulnerable, and may be replaced by his young compatriot - who would certainly raise the team’s profile.
Senna is probably not ready for F1, but he could handle a test role. Watch this space.
