Gridcrasher rates each driver based on their performance in 2008
Giancarlo Fisichella (Force India)
Best finish: 10th (Spain)
Best qualifying: 12th (Italy)
Total points: 0
The story of his season: No points, seven retirements, just one finish in the top ten - 2008 has been a washout for Fisi, who no longer enjoys the luxury of a seat in a competitive car. Force India have decided to keep the Italian for another year, but you wonder what either party stands to gain from the partnership - Fisi’s heart doesn’t seem in it these days.
Gridcrasher verdict: For a driver of his great experience - more than 200 GPs started - Fisi has driven like a clueless rookie on several occasions this season; although at least he has outqualified team-mate Adrian Sutil most of the time. He held up most of the front-runners in Shanghai last Sunday, hardly the first time in 2008 that he’s got in the way. And he doesn’t look like he’s having any fun, which is understandable given that he has no chance of scoring any points. It’s time for Fisichella to hang up his gloves.
Grade: E
