World champ loves his isolated winter training camp
Lewis Hamilton is loving McLaren’s week-long winter training camp at the Kuortane Sports Institute in western Finland. The annual event is scheduled so that McLaren’s drivers can work on their core strength and physical conditioning.
The remote location also means Lewis gets a few days to escape from the glare of the spotlight, before he returns home and prepares for the gruelling awards season (he has just been named on the BBC’s short-list for its Sports Personality of the Year).
“Travelling to Finland for our winter training camp is one of the best weeks of the year for me,” Lewis says.
“It feels like you’re miles from anywhere [er, that’s because you are, Ed.] and totally cut off from the outside world, which allows me to focus solely on my training, which is great…
“Brazil already seems a long time ago and I’m now focusing 100 percent on 2009. I had my seat fitting at the McLaren Technology Centre late last month and, while the plan at the moment is to start testing in January, I’m really keen to get going.”

Aaah, hope he keeps warm while he’s out there without his Pussycat to cuddle. Wouldn’t mind seeing him in lycra …

Lewis, all on his own, all taught and stiff from training. I smell the opportunity to do some quality stalking. I might even slip some Rohypnol into his sports drink and indulge myself in some ‘conditioning and stamina’ in the evening.

Morning Ollie, that second A Ludlow isn’t me BTW. I would never harm Lewey. Very funny though.
