James Bond’s Lotus Esprit, as driven by Roger Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me, is expected to fetch up to £120,000 when it goes up for auction in London next month.

The white ‘76 Esprit, which famously transformed into a submarine vehicle at the touch of a button, will be sold on December 1 at Bonhams auction house, as part of their annual automotive sell-off.

Bonhams also hope that the AU1 numberplate, which adorned Auric Goldfinger’s Rolls Royce Phantom, will fetch more than £80,000 when it goes in the same sale.

Man buys James Bond’s wrecked Aston Martin DBS

Diehard 007 fan blows £200k on trashed stunt car

car_photo_287424_7.jpg

A foolish wealthy James Bond fan has reportedly shelled out £200,000 for an Aston Martin DBS that doesn’t work. There is a good reason why he paid so much - it’s the infamous model that was written off during filming of the latest Bond movie, Quantum of Solace (opens on 31 October, folks).

The trashed Aston is one of six DBS models that were used to make the movie. It met its watery fate when an Aston engineer lost control on a slippery bend and ploughed through a barrier into Lake Garda in Italy.

New 007 movie stars hot Bond girls and, er, a Ford Ka

James Bond downsizes his ride

Here’s a promotion shot for the new 007 movie, Quantum of Solace, showing Bond girl Olga Kurylenko behind the wheel of a golden Ford Ka. Ford won’t say if Bond himself will drive the Ka in the upcoming film, but it’s a long way from the sexy supercars of Bonds gone by.

Daniel Craig drove a humdrum Ford Focus in Casino Royale. That was the second instalment of a three-movie sponsorship deal between Ford and the Bond producers that began with the woeful Die Another Day in 2002 - remember the “invisible” Aston Martin (back when Ford owned Aston)?

The Focus was bad enough, but god we hope Bond doesn’t end up driving the Ka. It’s just wrong - we could hardly think of a less appropriate car for an uber-cool secret agent. What next, Ernst Stavro Blofeld on a Segway? M on a moped?

A couple more pics after the jump…

Another James Bond car crash: Is new 007 film cursed?

Production on Quantum of Solace halted after second prang

Filming on the new Bond movie has been suspended after three accidents in five days, prompting claims that the film is “jinxed”, “cursed by gypsies”, and “burdened with a shit title”. The latest unhappy accident saw an Alfa Romeo 159 collide with a lorry, then a wall, during the shooting of a de rigeur chase scene. The crash left stunt driver Aris Comninos in a coma. He is currently in intensive care in a hospital in Verona.

Stunt driver crashes 007’s Aston Martin into Lake Garda

James Bond’s Aston goes for a dip during filming of new 007 movie

emp-5872536.jpg

James Bond’s iconic Aston Martin DBS had to be winched out of Lake Garda after a stunt driver lost control of the car in wet conditions and plunged off the road. He wasn’t seriously hurt but the supercar – apparently the only one available to the makers of “Quantum of Solace”, 007’s latest outing – was a write-off. Watch an Italian TV report of the incident after the link…
