A foolish wealthy James Bond fan has reportedly shelled out £200,000 for an Aston Martin DBS that doesn’t work. There is a good reason why he paid so much - it’s the infamous model that was written off during filming of the latest Bond movie, Quantum of Solace (opens on 31 October, folks).
The trashed Aston is one of six DBS models that were used to make the movie. It met its watery fate when an Aston engineer lost control on a slippery bend and ploughed through a barrier into Lake Garda in Italy.

The Paris Motor Show is under way, and one of the most exciting motors to be unveiled thus far (aside from the slightly strange-looking Lambo) is the Aston Martin that we have only previously seen on the drawing board. Obviously worried that car show fans would be irreparably blinded by its beauty, Aston have only fed us small morsels of the brand new One-77.
From what we can see, the styling is reminiscent of a more aggressive DB7. Beneath its aluminium and carbon fibre chassis will be a humungous 7.0-liter V12, capable of 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 200mph+.
Fancy one? Well keep dreaming: at a time of global recession, the British marque have decided to give it a thoroughly obscene price tag of £1m.
We love the huge air scoops either side of the grill, what do you think? Let us know with a comment and check out more snaps after the jump…
Say hi to the rather sexy One-77, Aston Martin’s new V12 coupe - the first new AM since the company was sold to Ford. Aston will make only 77 models (hence the name, which is provisional), and each customer will be able to customise the supercar to their personal tastes.
The tale of the tape? The One-77 will be powered by a hand-built 7-litre V12 engine, front-mounted and contained within a sleek aluminum and carbon-fibre chassis. It’ll propel you from 0-60 in 3.5-seconds, and has a top speed of more than 200mph (some reports have claimed 220mph).
Daniel Craig’s 007 is back. Here’s the first official trailer
After a couple of accidents involving stunt vehicles, the makers of the latest Bond film, A Quantum of Solace, have finally treated us to a first look at the movie. It’s got car chases, speedboat chases, hot girls, and agents in tuxedos delivering Martini dry one-liners. It looks like a Bond film. We can’t wait until 31 October ‘08, when it’s released in the UK.
James Bond’s Aston goes for a dip during filming of new 007 movie
James Bond’s iconic Aston Martin DBS had to be winched out of Lake Garda after a stunt driver lost control of the car in wet conditions and plunged off the road. He wasn’t seriously hurt but the supercar – apparently the only one available to the makers of “Quantum of Solace”, 007’s latest outing – was a write-off. LA Lakers basketball star jumps speeding car. Maybe…
We don’t doubt that Bryant, who stands 6ft 6in tall, is athletic enough to pull off a stunt like this. But we do doubt that his employers, the Los Angeles Lakers, would let him even try. The clip is a viral ad for Nike’s new Hyperdunk b-ball shoes, or “sneakers” as we understand they’re called in the States.
