The Arash AF-10: the latest British supercar

Home grown street racer is half the price of a Koenigsegg

Arash AF-10

British/Iranian entrepreneur and car manufacturer Arash Farboud - the man who famously bought a Bugatti Veyron over the phone while going through a McDonalds drive-thru - revealed his latest supercar, the AF-10 as a concept car at the 2007 British Motor Show. From mid-2009, punters with a spare £172,000 knocking about will be able to claim one as it goes into production. That’s about a third of the price of the Enzo Ferrari, the car from which it borrows much of its aesthetic design.

The AF-10, hand-made in Cambridge, will house a thirsty seven litre V8 (taken from a Corvette Z06) which will give 530bhp, a top speed

Merch: luxury Bentley laptop, a snip at £10,000

The laptop that’s more expensive than a car

bentley-ego-laptop.jpg

Ego unveiled its £10,000 Bentley laptop at the British Motor Show this week. Yes, you did read that right: a £10k laptop. Why is it so damn expensive? Well, each machine is hand-built and wrapped in custom-stitched leather, in colour schemes taken from actual Bentley models. It packs in a generous 160GB hard drive, and runs on Windows Vista.

Whoah! Rewind… Windows Vista!? Holy crack pipe, we wouldn’t play £100 for anything that runs on Vista, let alone ten large ones. But then we guess that Bentley owners are more likely than most to have £10,000 to splash on a luxury item like this.

Morgan LIFECar, powered by hydrogen

British manufacturer shows off green sports car

morgan-lifecar.jpg

The eye-catching Morgan LIFECar (annoying zeitgeisty name alert) was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and now British fans of the marque can see it up close and personal, at the British Motor Show in London.

The LIFECar’s USP is its claim to be an “environmentally responsible sports car”. An oxymoron, you might think, but it manages to run via a zero emission, hydrogen power source, and yet also look like a 21st-century supercar. So Morgan may be on to something. Problem is, it’ll only do 90mph, which is hardly going to please speed freaks wanting to reduce their carbon footprint. It does reach 60mph in less than seven seconds, so it’s not all bad news for adrenaline junkies.

British Motor Show showcases the ugliest car in the world

Lovers of beautiful automobiles look away now

Kia Soul Diva

To showcase their brand new boxy Soul model, South Korean auto peddlers Kia are displaying three custom designs, first seen at the Geneva Motor Show. ‘Burner’ and ‘Searcher’ do nothing to promote the Kia brand, while ‘Diva’ (pictured above) is a garish monstrosity that you might expect to see Jay-Z driving if he simultaneously lost his money, dignity and sanity. At best, it would suit the tastes of young ladies from Essex who aspire to carry small dogs around in designer bags.

Fortunately, the British Motor Show threw up some delights, like the new environmentally unfriendly Ford Focus RS:

Unfortunately, we missed Alesha Dixon performing at the launch of the new Zetec S, but did see Ronnie O’Sullivan making loud inappropriate jokes near the Ford stand.
