Lambo unveils Estoque

Remember those Lamborghini teaser photos for the new concept car? Well, the random bits of bodywork we showed you belonged to the new Lamborghini Estoque, which has now been unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The four-door car is named after the sword used by matadors in bullfights. It seems the new Lambo is a concept in every sense of the word. The lack of official confirmation on any engine specifications has caused a rumour that it is completely naked under the bonnet. If true this would obviously make the car going on sale a relatively distant prospect.

SECRET LAMBO
Crafy Lambo keep us guessing

Lamborghini has continued its teaser marketing ploy for its new concept car which will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on October 2. Last week we showed you the new Lambo’s backside, today we can bring you pictures of the new car’s rearlights. At least that is what we think we are bringing you. Is it possible to tease when you don’t have a clue what you are being teased about?
Thankfully, the Lamborghini PR team is on hand to clarify. “It’s not just a new Lamborghini. It’s a new world,” claims the spiel. Clear as mud then.
At least it is not too long until we literally get to see the full picture.

MINI 4x4!
Early design for first ever off-road Mini

You’re looking at a concept design for the new MINI Crossover, a “design study” carried out by BMW to see if there’s a market for an off-road MINI. The car will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, where it will surely be the star of the show.
No details on technical specs yet, although it’s likely BMW will choose variations on the current MINI’s 1.6litre petrol and diesel engines. What we do know is that the Crossover has four-wheel drive, four individual seats, four doors and is four metres long - yeah, we get the “four” theme chaps.

4x4 FAST-FORWARD
The future of the school run?

The new Mazda Kazamai has been turning all the heads at the Moscow International Motor Show this week. Touted as the future of compact 4×4, the Kazamai is certainly eye-catching. It remains a concept car for now but rumours persist that it (or at least some very distinctive aspects of its design) will make it into mass production as early as 2011.
“The Kazamai signposts the way to our next generation of vehicles,” Mazda design chief Laurens van den Acker said. “It is a very realistic concept car.” It is very sleek and curvy, and incredibly futuristic in design. In fact, it is a bundle of contradictions. It looks bulky but sleek, big but compact, friendly but slightly menacing, white but black. We like it a lot.

ECO CONCEPT BIKE
Nissan design electric bike for city commuting

The Nissan Mori may look more like a cute kids’ toy than a bike for grown-ups, but don’t be fooled by the playful design. This is a serious bike, in as much as it could be part of a revolution in the way we commute. It’s green credentials are immaculate - it’s powered by electricity, so there are no emissions, and it takes up less space than a traditional two-wheeled vehicle.
If you can get over the fact that you might feel a little self-conscious riding the Mori, then it could change the way you get to and from the office.

FUTURE CARS
Meet the world’s first electric/solar/gas hybrid

New company Mindset is making a bold attempt to shake-up the car industry with its Six50, a battery powered electric/gas hybrid that can squeeze almost 500 miles per charge (plus a two-cylinder petrol motor as a generator). The Six50 also features solar panels on the roof, which can aid the charging of the lithium ion batteries.
The car is set to weigh just 650kg, hence the Six50 name, although a recent prototype made of aluminum and plastic weighed in at around 800kg, so it still needs to go on a diet. The car is powered by a 70KW (95bhp) engine that can propel the car to a pretty decent 75mph, and goes from 0-100kph in less than six seconds.
The Six50 is projected to hit the European market in late 2009, priced around €50,000. No word yet on how much it will cost in the UK.
