Here’s a clip from the 2005 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, at the Mid-Ohio track in Lexington, Ohio. BMW M3 driver Joey Hand is punted off the track and rides over what appears to be an ill-placed bump/ ramp in the run-off area, sending him flying through the air.
Amazingly, the Californian driver was missing a glove and a shoe when he was pulled out of the wreck, but was otherwise uninjured.
The folks behind the James Bond franchise may have picked a god-awful name for the latest film, but they more than make up for it with their choice of automobiles.
The brand new Quantum of Solace trailer may feature Olga Kurylenko behind the wheel of a naff golden Ford Ka - hopefully it won’t get a lengthy appearance like the Ford Mondeo did in Casino Royale - but it also gives us a glimpse at the gorgeous Aston Martin DBS that Danny Craig became acquainted with last time round.
Frankly, I’m so excited about this film that I could shit a squirrel - roll on October 31st!
Grid Crasher extra: The bond stuntmen wrote off an Aston martin in spectacular style back in April - check out footage of the recovered wreck after the jump…
Nicky Hayden won’t compete at this weekend’s Czech MotoGP after damaging his ankle during the recent X-Games. Hayden injured his right heel after landing heavily following a jump during practice for the Supermoto event.
The American rider, a former MotoGP world champ, had been given special permission from his Honda bosses to take part in the event - bet they wish they’d turned down his request.
“I just wanted to do some riding during the break, have some fun and I thought that maybe it’d give me a little spark for the rest of the season, but it backfired on me,” Hayden said, more sheepishly than a sheepish sheep.
Australian actress caught up in Transformers star’s crash
You may already have read about Shia LaBeouf’s alleged drink-driving incident, which saw the actor flip his Ford F-150 truck after allegedly (yeah, we have to use the word “alleged” a lot, just to be safe) making a left turn and then being hit by another car.
The authorities are now saying that LaBeouf was not at fault, and that the other driver involved in the prang ran a red light. Still, the star of Transformers and the recent Indiana Jones sequel, was charged with DUI (driving under the influence), so he’s not blameless in this.
Reports say that LaBeouf badly injured his hand in the crash, and required extensive surgery to patch it up. More interesting is the news that Shia’s female passenger was Isabel Lucas (pictured above), currently shooting Transformers 2 with LaBeouf. The not-unpretty Aussie actress suffered minor injuries in the accident.
More pics of Isabel after the jump, and a bonus video (’cause that’s what this post is all about)…
If you receive an email with a link to a video claiming to show a fiery car crash involving Fernando Alonso, don’t open it: delete it immediately and go about your business.
Of course, Alonso was never involved in the crash, which supposedly took place in the Spanish city of Bilbao. The spam email is an electronic trojan horse: if you click on the video link hoping to see Nando go up in flames, instead a malware virus will be installed on your PC (smug twat alert: we use Macs at Grid Crasher, so it’s not a problem) - and that sounds like a very bad thing that even Bill Gates couldn’t fix.
If you want to know more geeky details about the virus, check out The Register’s report on the (non) story.
