Italian model finds love with millionaire 30 years her senior
Italian businessman is Flavio Briatore is known by most as the MD of the Renault F1 team and part owner of Queens Park Rangers. Among gorgeous women, however, he is known only as a breathtaking inferno of sexuality, on a par with the Brad Pitts of this world. This accounts for why the rotund perma-tanned 58-year-old has put away Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell and 28-year-old Wonderbra model Elisabetta Gregoraci, to whom he is now married. I think he may have a few quid laying around, too.

Brazilian rookie faces nervous wait re: next season
Nelsinho Piquet has not yet done enough to secure his seat with Renault for 2009, according to the latest paddock rumours. Flavio Briatore plans to keep the fast-improving rookie on his toes and so the team has delayed a decision to renew his contract until the end of September.
Auto Motor und Sport claims that Renault extended the option deadline in the Brazilian’s contact by a month to coincide with Fernando Alonso’s decision about his future.
Flamboyant Renault boss & missus attacked by irate tourists
Flavio Briatore’s August break took a nasty turn when he tried to go onshore from his luxury yacht. Italian newspaper La Stampa reports that the 58-year-old Renault boss and his charming new wife were pelted with water and sand (not the most painful weapons, you’d think) by angry bathers when they tried to land on the busy Capriccioli beach in Sardinia.
The aggressive manner in which they sped ashore enraged parents on the beach, while “terrorised children wailed between the waves”, La Stampa claimed. A painful image, we’re sure you agree.
Flavio’s new wife, Wonderbra model Elisabetta Gregoraci, showed that she’s settling down by taking off most of her clothes for Interviu, an Italian lads’ mag. It’s not the first time her clothes have fallen off in front of a camera, and it surely won’t be the last.

Flavio Briatore believes Fernando Alonso will still be a Renault driver in 2009. “I think he’ll stay,” Briatore told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “He is racing really well, he has missed out on many points,” the flamboyant Italian added.
So not even Flavio knows where Nando will end up next year. Whatever happens, we hope Alonso makes a decision soon - this indecision is killing us.
Bernie Ecclestone walked in on a group of F1 drivers playing poker in the Force India motor home at Hockenheim last weekend. The card sharks included Fernando Alonso (he’s a massive poker fan, and reportedly hates to lose), Rubens Barrichello, Adrian Sutil and Michael Schumacher (he just can’t stay away, can he).
German newspaper FAZ reports that Alonso is losing patience with Renault. No news there, but we were interested to read that the feeling may be mutual.
One Renault engineer is quoted as saying: “Fernando thinks only about Fernando. (In Canada) he wasn’t even at the after-race briefing.”
Alonso may be a former world champion, but that means little if he’s perceived as a selfish, trouble-making brat. There are many fast, hungry young drivers out there who would be less hassle to deal with. If the Spaniard is not careful, he’ll end up with nowhere left to go in F1. Nando to IndyCar, anyone?
