With just a few corners to go until the chequered flag, no less than four drivers - Jochen Rindt, Jackie Stewart, Bruce McLaren and Jean-Pierre Beltoise - had a chance of victory. Who won? Jack Brabham vs Jochen Rindt, 1970 Monaco Grand Prix


Old-school Monaco flavour

As Grid Crasher looks forward to this weekend’s Monaco GP, here’s some vintage footage of a classic last-lap battle between Jochem Rindt and Jack Brabham. Going into the final lap, Brabham was leading Rindt by a couple of seconds and so seemed assured of victory. But Brabham cocked up the last corner, going straight on into the straw bales (we’d want a bit more protection than that); Rindt sped past to claim a famous win, whilst the Aussie had to settle for second.
