Scuderia prez admits losing his cool

He may look like a mild-mannered Italian gent, but Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has a dark and wild side. Crazy Luca smashed a TV set after seeing Lewis Hamilton snatch the F1 title from Felipe Massa at Interlagos.

“I broke the television, I must tell the truth,” Montezemolo admitted at a Ferrari event in Mugello.

“When a television breaks it makes a terrible bang. My daughter in the other room was given an awful fright. Luckily we had another television so I was able to watch the podium ceremony, which I enjoyed.”

Lesson learned: don’t make Luca angry… you won’t like him when he’s angry.

Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo claims his team has no regrets about rejecting Fernando Alonso four years ago. The Spaniard was desperate to move to Ferrari but the team chose to retain Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa, until the end of the 2010 season at least.

Speaking with Gazzetta dello Sport about how the team could have signed Alonso, di Montezemolo said: “That could have been the case four years ago, now I’m happy as we are.

“We are trying to win the title with a different driver from last year and both of them are winning the constructors’ for us. If there is one thing giving us no problems, that’s the drivers. Except for a non-elating second half of the season for Raikkonen, Massa has done an extraordinary season.”
