AC Milan’s Superleague Formula car unveiled to players (with video)

Footballers amazed by car painted in team colours

Listen to the childish gasps of excitement as Milan’s SF car is unveiled in front of the club’s players. You can almost see the two cogs in Ronaldo’s head moving even faster than normal: “Can I get me one of those to drive to training?”

Unfortunataly, Milan had a shocker in the inaugural round at Donington on Sunday (they also lost their opening game in Serie A). The red-and-black car, driven by former F1 also-ran Robert Doornbos, suffered a fuel leak in race one, and couldn’t be fixed in time for race two. The result leaves Milan at the bottom of the table - not a position the famous club is used to.

Liverpool and Spurs on podium in Superleague Formula opener

Premier League giants score at Donington

Motorsport’s new football-sponsored Superleague Formula kicked off at the weekend, with a couple of very wet races at Donington.

Davide Rigon won the first ever SF race, leading from start to finish for Chinese club Beijing Guoan. Duncan Tappy, who only found out he was driving on Wednesday, came in third for Tottenham Hotspur. However, the star of the race was Adrian Valles (pictured), racing in Liverpool’s colours. After suffering electrical problems in practice, which forced him to start from the back of the grid, Valles powered through the puddles to finish fifth.

The second race was won by Borja Garcia for Sevilla. Valles improved on his first-race finish with a solid third place (achieved despite starting 12th on the grid); Spurs’ Tappy showed he will be a force in the series in finishing fifth. The results mean Liverpool and Spurs lie joint second in the table, behind Beijing Guoan.
